Every glorious chapter in the history of human civilization is composed by both men and women. Women realize that they are the same as men, and they go out of the house and participate in society. This is the most direct reason for the development of women's education. The priority development of women's education is to improve the quality of the whole nation's culture. In recent years, more and more attention to women's education are paid in Korea. From the founding of the Republic, the South Korean government actively develop and promote the equality of women's education, so that the rapid development has been achieved from 1950s to 1990s.

Before this, the education of Korea also experienced a special period, which is the colonial period, and it has special characteristics about women education. My thesis is divided into four parts: the first is introduction, and then I will give the characteristics of women education in different period, especially in post colonial period. The third part is reason and analysis, and finally I will show the influence of this period women education.
2. The characteristic of women education妇女教育的 特征
The ancient traditional female education in South Korea is mainly under the rule of the patriarchy, and their limitations in the family. so their education do the preparation for family life. This education makes women feel inferior to themselves, and unwillingly accept the position of subordinate. They also lose the opportunity to develop as an independent individual. The traditional Korean women education is based on the view of men and women, which not only strengthens the female's subordinate status, but also suppresses the women's dignity, and suppresses them to pursue the independent consciousness of freedom and happiness.
In the period of modern civilization, female education in South Korea has a huge leap. In traditional society, women have no opportunity to receive education. Then at the beginning of the civilization, the women as objects have some chances to get education. In the period of the Sino Japanese war, education reform policy is launched and Korea female’s education dream finally come true. But at that time the patriarchal concept is still deeply rooted, so giving public education opportunities for women still only stay in the way. And the pursuit of female education in this period is to be an understanding wife and loving mother.
Next is the important colonial period, and the women education has a different situation. With the end of the Second World War in August 15, 1945, Korea has also been liberated. But South Korea is under the jurisdiction of the U. S. and goes into the modern society. And western men and women equal education idea is also introduced to South korea. According to the 1948 South Korean constitution, both men and women have the opportunity to be educated. From now on, the Korean women's education was a historic turning point. However, it is a pity that the education theory based on the equality thought has not been implemented, nor does it have a special provision for women's education goal. When the U.S. government is aware of the obstacles of illiterate to the democratic policy in South Korea, they implement education reform in order to expand educational opportunities for women to achieve equality in education. In addition, the introduction of a male and female school system make men and women equal to receive education and promote gender equality consciousness. After liberation, the enthusiasm of the Korean national education rose sharply. In order to meet this requirement, the formal and informal education institutions have assumed the implementation of eliminating illiteracy education. But at that time, it can be said that the Korean society pursue the equality between men and women in the law. However in education opportunities, education process and education content, it still implement gender role in the education. So it is still a big gap from the real equality between men and women. Then I will analyze the specific situations.
3. The reason and analysis
The women education in post colonial period is distinctive. There are two reasons: the first reason is that women have special position in this period, secondly the reason is some new changes occurred.
In the post colonial period, women are doubly oppressed. Because in this period, South Korea is under the American rule, and Korean women sometimes have to serve the American soldiers. They suffered their violence, and this kind of violence gives women physical and mental harm. At the same time, there is a traditional concept that Korea is a male-dominated society. So that South Korean men also command women and use their rights to restrict women in some aspects. In this way, women are subject to two aspects of oppression. Women get hurt on their body and they do not have free. The subjectivity can not be implemented, so it is more difficult for women to receive education. They listen to men and pay more attention to family life and some chores. So in this period, women's education is in a rough situation, which the women students are few and the quality is limited. As for women, basic requirements are difficult, and it is too luxurious to ask for education choice.
Although women have some difficulties in education, but there is still a kind of improvement of education. The United States firmly make Korea into the capitalist world system. The United States thus fully involved in the South Korea's military, economic and education aspects. The US education aims to equality and freedom. So education in Korea also gets the influence in the process of westernization(Charles K Armstrong,77). In some schools, the proportion of women has increased, and more and more women are able to receive education. Women have a lot of freedom to choose their profession. Women have more chances to make contribute to Korea. In the colonial period, Korea is influenced by westernization, this is the pursuit of wealth, power and freedom, also people want to create a new world(Sun-Young, Yoo, 423). Women education is a vital part in the new equality world.
4. The influence of women education in post colonial period
Women education in post colonial period give great help for the development of society in Korea. Women have the chastity concept, and they listen to men and serve them(Chungmoo, Choi, 13). This is the dedication and meaning of a female. In today’s Korea, there is also this kind of performance, which is a courtesy of inheritance.
Women education in post colonial period have great influence on the following education in Korea. On the one hand, the characteristics of the education in this period are the product of common function between economy and politics, and it is not only a kind of reaction, but also a kind of promotion. The progress of women education is beneficial to the development of society. On the other hand, the influence of American liberalism and equality goes into Korea, so that Korea's education is full of energy. The education in this period provide a better foundation for the development of future education. It is a good bridge between traditional education and modern education.
5. Conclusion
In this paper, I introduce the characteristic of women education in different stages, the traditional education, and recently modern education. Then I analyze the reason and give the influence of women education in post colonial period. This period education is vital in the process of Korea women education. My paper is not perfect and further research are important for better understanding.
